Newmar RV began laying off more than 150 workers. Employees at Newmar have been contacted by management over the holiday shut down to be notified they no longer have a job.

Newmar has continued to blame the economy and high fuel prices for the lay-offs. Most of the employees feel that as the economy has been a major impact instigating the lay-offs but also believe that poor management decisions over the prior years is the direct cause for the slumping sales at Newmar Corp.

Newmar continues to struggle to get orders for the recreational vehicles they produce at the manufacturing plant in Nappanee, Indiana. It has been rumored that if the situation doesn't getting any better quickly - Newmar will be forced to close the doors.

During the peak business cycles, Newmar was believed to employ around 1,300 employees. With the recent job cuts at Newmar, it is believed the work force has shriveled down to 350 employees.

What in the world is going on. Just read about Monaco Coach closing 3 plants and laying off 1,400 employees!!

Monaco is the top producer of Class A motorhomes, so if they are having that many problems - the smaller producers like Newmar, Travel Supreme, etc. will definitely be next.

I think it's just a matter of time before Newmar closes there doors. Besides the weak economy - their management team has made bad decisions over bad decisions. They majority of Newmar's workforce has lost hope, faith, trust and respect in Newmar mamangement years ago.

The result has been poor attitudes, lack of pride, not wanting to go the extra mile and thus a product which has had the quality compromised.

When Newmar closes its doors - look for their management to be working as used car salesmen, politicians, or evangilists - as they are great at blowing smoke up your skirtt.

It's unfortunate for all these people. A good thing never lasts. Other companies were smart to build product that the traget market could afford. Others like Newmar were wasting time on a niche market that couldn't afford the payments when the going got tough.

Good Luck to all the job seekers.

I wholeheartedly disagree with "HAPPY". Newmar puts out a fine product, I have vacationed in one several times and was proud to do so, even summer of 2008 when "Happy" says Newmar has lost thier pride, nothing can be further from the truth. If management was like "Happy" suggests then why are they still in business?
As for Newmar management looking for new jobs since they have proving thier loyalty, integrity, and value by sticking with an industry that has been turned upside down any employer would be blessed to have them

Have a great day!
